14 School Mergers in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City

Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has taken a significant step in restructuring its education system by deciding to merge schools with fewer students.

Reason for the Merger

  • Following the underwhelming performance of 17 schools in the basic level examinations, the decision for this merger was initiated.
  • The municipal council meeting held on a Saturday in Upanagar was the birthplace of this resolution.

Statements from Officials

  • Mayor Gopal Hamal stated that 14 schools will be merged in the initial phase. He assures that this move aims at establishing a better education system, with plans of gradually merging other institutions.
  • Narendra Khati, who heads the Sub-metropolitan Education, Youth, and Sports Division, mentioned that only child development classes would remain in these schools with a limited student count.

Schools to be Merged: First Phase

  1. Shaileshwari Secondary School of Sub-Metropolitan No. 2 will be combined with Sharda Secondary School.
  2. Navjyoti Secondary School of Ward No. 7 will merge with Shiv Secondary School.
  3. Jokaiya Secondary School from Ward No. 11 will integrate with Vela Secondary School.
  4. Nepal Bhupusainik Secondary School from Ward No. 18 will fuse with Khaptadi Secondary School.
  5. Behdaba Secondary School’s classes 1 to 5 in Ward No. 12 will move to Siddhanath Secondary School.
  6. Classes 4 and 5 of Kalika Secondary School in Ward No. 17 will find their new home in New Kalika Secondary School.
  7. Notably, schools such as Rastriya Secondary School, Bhairavababa Secondary School, and Saraswati Secondary School, among others, will also undergo adjustments.

Special Adjustments

  • Janata Rastriya Secondary School in Ward No. 13, Rajpur's classes 9 and 10 will be hosted by Janata Rastriya Secondary School in Kailali village within the same ward.
  • Similarly, Dipendra Charpate Secondary School in Ward No. 14 will see its classes 9 and 10 relocated to Behdababa Secondary School of the same ward.

Adjustment Basis

The sub-metropolis plans to align schools with low student numbers closer to schools that lack teacher vacancies. In addition, four basic level schools will be fully integrated into the nearest institutions, adhering to the city’s school adjustment and teacher vacancy matching regulations.

Future Plans

A delegation consisting of school principals, school management committee chairmen, education department personnel, and executive members from all 19 wards will undertake a study of the Kejriwal education system in Delhi, India's capital, further emphasizing the commitment to uplift the educational standards.

The Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City’s decision to merge schools is a strategic move towards improving the quality of education and ensuring that every student receives the best learning opportunities. This restructuring aims to boost performance, maximize resources, and foster a nurturing environment for young minds.
